Cover Collaboration

The relatively new and young songwriter Bruce Springsteen was virtually unknown until his song, Blinded by the Light was remade, energized, and pumped-up to a #1 hit by Manfred Mann’s Earth Band.  Manfred Mann had been a well known group who did excellent cover versions of much of  Bob Dylan’s material.  Several well known performers passed through this group from Klaus Voorman, Jack Bruce, Chris Thompson, Paul Jones, and Mike D’Abo. The group was named after the bands’ somewhat eccentric keyboard player, Manfred Mann.  Manfred Mann’s Earth Band would take these three relatively unnoticed songs from Bruce Springsteen’s debut album,  and launch him to superstardom.  Other memorable hits from Manfred Mann are, The Mighty Quinn (by Bob Dylan), Do Wah Diddy Diddy, and Come Tomorrow.

Manfred Mann continues to perform today.

Reflections of Our Times

Every year we welcome great new hits from Fall Out Boy to Green Day, from Paul McCartney to Jay-Z, from Linkin Park to 50 Cent.  Movie Soundtracks to Ringtones.

But, what about the greatest hits that have already been recorded.  Were the originals hits in their own right  …  were they just as good artistically  …  were they missing one piece?
