Numerous games are played around the world that utilize a ball or ball-like object.  These ball range in size from less than two inches in diameter too as much as ten inches.  Their shapes can resemble spheres, cylinders, and ellipses.  Scoring basically is accomplished by placing the ball into or through a goal.  This scoring placement typically is done by kicking, hitting, or throwing with a players body, or striking the object with a racquet or stick.  The one major sport group that does not attempt to place a ball though or into a goal is Baseball (and Softball).  The object in this game is to place a ball in a position away from one’s opponents thus enabling one to run through the goal ... in this case bases and a plate.
